Any food can cause an allergic reaction,
especially if food allergies run in your family. The following foods tend
to be troublesome:
Chocolate
Peanuts and other nuts
Eggs
Strawberries
Fish
A child who is allergic to a food will normally react within 24 hours
of ingesting it. Some reactions include:
Difficulty breathing
Skin Rash or Diaper Rash
Hives
Diarrhea
Vomiting
Should you suspect an allergic reaction, discontinue the food and
contact your pediatrician immediately.
Medications can sometimes be the culprit of allergic reactions as
well. Be sure to tell your pediatrician if any of the above symptoms
occur while on any medication.
Allergic reactions can occur even after a child has taken the medication
in the past without incident.
