Most
couples experience changes in their intimate and sexual relationships during
pregnancy. Some women feel ill during the first trimester and some feel ill
throughout the entire pregnancy. Some women feel great by the second trimester
find that they have an insatiable appetite for sex. Still others find the whole
idea a big turn off for the entire nine months. As every woman is different,
every pregnancy is as well. Some men find the changes in a womans body
very attractive during pregnancy. Others may be afraid of myths or turned off by
their spouses appearance. All of these feelings are perfectly normal.
There are some things you can do to help keep your relationship on track.
In most cases, it is perfectly okay to engage in normal sexual activities,
so relax and enjoy.
Remember that even though you may not be interested in intercourse during
times of discomfort, cuddling and touching keeps you intimate with your partner.
Hormones are raging during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester.
Keep in mind that you may be more apt to argue about things that you normally
wouldn't.
Pregnancy can be a stressful time for both of you. Many men worry about
supporting a family and being a good father. Women tend to wonder about
motherhood and the health of their baby. Take the time to be together. Go out,
have fun, take long walks, and nurture your relationship.
Talk about your feelings with one another. The more you talk, the closer
you'll feel.
Take child birth classes together.
Remember, the whole idea when it comes to sex is intimacy and enjoyment. If
you or your partner are physically or emotionally uncomfortable, finding
ways to accommodate one another will only bring you closer.
