Roseola is caused by the human Herpesvirus-6.

   -   Roseola occurs between 6 months and 3 years of agehorse
   -   There is presence of a fine pink rash, mainly on the trunk of the body
   -   High fever during the preceding 2-4 days that disappears within 24 hours of the rash appearing. (fever can be as high as 104 or 105 degrees Fahrenheit)
   -   Child is only mildly ill during the time of fever
   -   Child is acting fine now

The rash lasts 1-2 days, followed by a complete recovery. Some children have 3 days of fever without rash.

There is no particular treatment. Roseola is contagious until the rash is gone. Other children this age who have been with your child may come down with Roseola within about 12 days.

Call your Doctor if:

   -   The spots become purple or blood colored
   -   The rash lasts more than 3 days
   -   The rash becomes itchy
   -   Any new symptoms develop that concern you
