Be
trained in First Aid and CPR. This training will
be invaluable to treating survivable injuries or even aid in supporting life while
awaiting the arrival of professional emergency services.
Your local American
Red Cross offers courses and training programs to teach people how to save a life
and to help neighbors who have been impacted by disaster. Last year alone, the
Connecticut Greater Hartford Chapter certified more than 30,000 students in standard
First Aid/CPR.
The American Red Cross recommends the following training
for all capable family members:
Take a First Aid and CPR class.
Learn how to use a fire extinguisher.
Locate household utility valve shutoffs and know and when to turn off gas, electricity
and water.
Learn how to access optional water sources within the house.
Robyn's
Nest recommends that every household in America have at least one person who is
trained in CPR and First Aid.
